Single Mother Survival Guide

Becoming a single mum is one of the most daunting and overwhelming life changes someone will ever go through. Whether you are pregnant or have teenagers, you will most likely be confused and struggling with what to do next. I became a single mother in 2013 when my daughter was just a few months old, and it has been a challenging but rewarding journey ever since. This Podcast (and the website www.singlemothersurvivalguide.com) was created to assist newly single mothers in all things they may need to know about. SO WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOTHER SURVIVAL GUIDE PODCAST ABOUT? A Podcast for single mums, made by a single mum… The Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast includes a mixture of me babbling about single mums business, and interviews and discussions with different people and experts about different topics. First off the ranks this includes an interview with a Wills and Estate lawyer which contains everything YOU need to know about getting a Will done, an interview with a financial adviser on everyday money management, savings, spending and so forth, an interview with an online security expert so that YOU know how to keep yourself secure online, an open interview with a domestic violence survivor and advocate, and another interview with a financial adviser on everything to do with insurance, and what you should think about getting insured to ensure the financial safety for you and your kids. Coming up after that I have chats with people including parenting experts, family lawyers, and a life coach. I also chat about the social stigma of being a single mum, single parent travel, everyday tips to make YOUR life easier, dating, personal budgeting, resources out there to help YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN, child support, domestic violence, successful co-parenting, advantages to being a single mum, and the list goes on…

In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, Julia talks with Lauren Cohen.  Lauren shares her own personal story of becoming a single mum and tells Julia about starting her business. She also provides advice for single working mums, how to find the silver lining when at rock bottom, her advice for new single mums, and LOTS MORE!

Lauren is a South Florida Immigration Law Expert and attorney licensed in both the U.S. and Canada. Lauren faced some challenges her first few years of living and working in America and in pursuing her own immigration journey. After spending several years working as corporate counsel in various industries while dabbling in the field of immigration law, at age 40 Lauren decided to combine her legal knowledge and business acumen and over the next few years built her own now thriving business -  e-Council Inc., which is a company offering concierge turnkey business immigration services ranging from professional Business Plans to comprehensive project coordination for all types of US business immigration visas. And at 43 years old she had a baby on her own - although it was not a conscious choice to have her precious son alone. She's also in the process of setting up Find My Silver Lining – a non-profit established to inspire single working parents, especially mompreneurs, to work through tough times to find their Silver Lining and to live fulfilling lives.

In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, Julia talks with Corrie McLeod. Corrie has such a positive outlook on life and has achieved so much despite being a single mum. She founded Espresso Communications in 2004 and over the past decade has built the business into a thriving, internationally-recognised communications consulting company.

Corrie also created two additional business units under the Hello Espresso brand in 2015: InnovationAus.com and One Part Idea, to provide public advocacy and creative services, respectively, to Australian and international businesses.

In this episode Corrie shares her own story of becoming a single mum. She also discusses:
