Communicating with our ex can be at times challenging and Trish provides lots of useful advice on this topic - hearing the other person but standing up for ourselves in the co-parenting relationship, taking responsibility for our own emotions, how to get a great co-parenting relationship, how to communicate effectively, and how to communicate with a very difficult ex.
She also tells us how to create a positive mindset in the difficult times, and this includes thinking of our challenges as an opportunity to help us grow as a person.
We also discuss how she felt when becoming a single mum, the benefit of building up your own community to have around you, how she herself has used the (at times) challenging single mum journey to help her grow, and she also shares her advice for single mums.

She specialises in supporting in supporting people to have the conversations that matter and easing the heaviness that goes along with that. Her work takes her into organisations, families and community groups to help build the skills to bridge the difference between where they are now and where they want to be.

Lauren is a South Florida Immigration Law Expert and attorney licensed in both the U.S. and Canada. Lauren faced some challenges her first few years of living and working in America and in pursuing her own immigration journey. She was limited in her ability to work in her chosen field due to licensure issues and struggled to make ends meet, but eventually all of her hard work paid off and she built a new career for herself. After spending several years working as corporate counsel in various industries while dabbling in the field of immigration law, at age 40 Lauren decided to combine her legal knowledge and business acumen and over the next few years built her own now thriving business - e-Council Inc., which is a company offering concierge turnkey business immigration services ranging from professional Business Plans to comprehensive project coordination for all types of US business immigration visas. And at 43 years old she had a baby on her own - although it was not a conscious choice to have her precious son alone. She's also in the process of setting up Find My Silver Lining – a non-profit established to inspire single working parents, especially mompreneurs, to work through tough times to find their Silver Lining and to live fulfilling lives.

In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, Julia talks with Corrie McLeod. Corrie has such a positive outlook on life and has achieved so much despite being a single mum. She is a perfect example that anything is possible. At age 28 Corrie started out in PR, as an account coordinator at a large multinational PR firm, after working in hospitality for 10 years. Two years later when having her first baby, Corrie found that the firm she was working with was not set up to enable her to return to work part time. She was a single mum on a pension, when she started freelancing from home.
She founded Espresso Communications in 2004 and over the past decade has built the business into a thriving, internationally-recognised communications consulting company.
Corrie also created two additional business units under the Hello Espresso brand in 2015: InnovationAus.com and One Part Idea, to provide public advocacy and creative services, respectively, to Australian and international businesses.
